GacaloTech was born from a simple yet powerful realization: representation matters. When we looked at the tech industry, we saw a lack of Somali women in leadership roles, in engineering teams, and in the decision-making processes that shape our digital world.
Founded by a group of passionate Somali women already working in tech, GacaloTech started as informal mentorship sessions. We shared our experiences, challenges, and victories with younger women entering the field. What began as small gatherings quickly grew into a movement.
Today, GacaloTech is a thriving community of over 500 members, with mentorship programs, coding workshops, career support, and networking events. We've helped countless women land their first tech jobs, transition careers, and advance to leadership positions.
But we're just getting started. Our vision extends beyond individual success stories to systemic change in how the tech industry approaches diversity, inclusion, and representation.
